The Summer I Turned Pretty is ready to break your heart — again.
Last week, Entertainment Weekly revealed exclusive first-look photos from the coming-of-age drama's upcoming season. The Amazon Prime series throws viewers into a love triangle between teenager Isabel "Belly" Conklin (Lola Tung) and the Fisher brothers, Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno).
EW also wrangled some details about the season from Tung and showrunner Jenny Han, who also wrote the book trilogy on which the series is based.
Read on as we share everything we know about The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3, including its release date, cast, plot details, and more.
What is The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 about?
Season 3 is based on Han's 2011 novel We'll Always Have Summer, the third and final book in her trilogy. Like its source material, the season jumps forward in time: Belly is in college, has a cartilage piercing, and is still with Jeremiah, whom she chose over his older brother at the end of season 2.
By all accounts, they're living the dream. "The Jellyfish fans love how sweet and how they are, at their core, best friends," Tung told EW. "That relationship is something that's so special and so unique to them, so it's exciting to see this season and how their relationship blossoms."
But who wants a story of a frictionless relationship? Though Conrad is off studying at Stanford to become a doctor, his role in the story is far from finished. And, like any college relationship, Jeremiah and Belly's romance isn't as idyllic as it may appear from the outside...
When does The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 come out?
Amazon announced in May 2024 that The Summer I Turned Pretty will return for season 3 in 2025. That meant the series would have the summer off before concluding the central love story.
Last month, the show's official Instagram page shared a post confirming that season 3 will arrive in July 2025.
"Summer is just a season away," reads the caption. "The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 premieres this July on Prime Video.
While a specific release date is yet to be announced, fans can still look forward to spending the summer with Belly, Conrad, and Jeremiah once more.
Who's in The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 cast?
As the first-look photos illustrate, season 3 will be centered on our core trio — Tung's Belly, Briney's Conrad, and Casalegno's Jeremiah — as well as Belly's older brother, Steven (Sean Kaufman), and best friend, Taylor (Rain Spencer). Two years have passed, though, and they've each changed in their own ways.

Conrad, specifically, will be forced to reckon with how they've grown when he finds his way back to the group. "Conrad's been away from everyone for a while, and now he's back in the mix with people," Han told EW. "It's almost like rediscovering and also seeing the ways that they've both changed and have had some distance from each other, and who are these people now? Because there is a little bit of a time jump and he's been gone. People will see the ways that he's changed and he's seeing the ways that Belly and Jeremiah — and Steven — have changed as well."
It will also be neat for fans to see how Belly and Jeremiah's dynamic has shifted in the two years since we last saw them. "It's very sweet and there's so many amazing scenes for Belly and Jeremiah this season, somany," Han said. "Lola and Gavin have really great chemistry and got into such a good rhythm with each other, because we do have a little bit of a time jump going into season 3, so they needed to have that kind of bond, and it was really seamless. It'll be joyful for people to witness it."
What have the creators said about The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3?
Speaking with EW, the showrunners shared a few other juicy details, specifically in regards to how the season differs from the book on which it's based.
"There are going to be surprises," Han promised, speaking to fans of the book series. "There are the things that they know and then there are things they think they know, and then there's going to be, hopefully, things that surprise them."

If that's got you panicking, allow Tung to talk you down. "The one thing I've always admired about Jenny is that every season and every decision about what's coming next is purely to serve the story," the actress told EW. "She's never going to do anything that doesn't make sense for the story. It's all about this beautiful world she's created and giving the fans something really, really special and giving us something really special to work with."
